Dawnetta and I got tired of having our movie collection stored in a bookcase in the family room, mainly because it didn’t look neat and tidy. Nor did it feel organized.

I solved the problem by designing and building a media storage “bench”. I’m told that it’s actually a credenza, but I’m not the expert. Regardless, you can sit on it without any worries. The kids frequently use it as a table for drawing on. I mean really — what else is a large, flat surface good for?

The drawers are designed such that DVDs and VHS tapes (remember those?) fit in different orientations, allowing precise fit for both in spite of the difference in packaging. Each drawer will hold 93 DVD’s (in standard-size plastic cases) or 40 VHS tapes in the white plastic clam-shell cases.
